The McMahon Parater Foundation

Funding Priorities -- Guidelines for Tuition Assistance

Eligibility and Process

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond will make financial aid available to all who seek a Catholic education within the confines of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond from a special fund, McMahon Parater Foundation for Education (MPF).

In order to qualify for these funds, families must adhere to the following guidelines:

Families seeking tuition assistance monies from the MPF must first apply for tuition assistance from their individual schools. Once the school determines the amount of the awards requested, schools are required to report those amounts to the Diocesan Office of Finance by May 1, 2011.

All families seeking financial aid from the MPF must complete a FACTS application form including supporting documents by April 15, 2011.

Applicants can apply online at www.factstuitionaid.com. If you have questions or concerns about the FACTS application process, you may speak with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 1-866-315-9262.

The following information is required in order for FACTS to process your application:

1. Completed online application.
2. Payment of the $25 application fee.
3. Copies of your most recent federal tax return including all schedules.
4. Copies of your 2009 W2 for both you and your spouse.
5. Copies of supporting documentation for Social Security Income, Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, Workers' Compensation, and TANF.
6. Fax supporting documents by April 15, 2011 to: 1-866-315-9264 (Access to FAX machines may be available at your school.)

FACTS will verify supporting documents and assess a family's ability to pay and need determination.

Based upon a predetermined amount of total aid available, the MPF will make recommended awards for each applicant by June 15, 2011.

Awarded amount will not exceed $1,000 per student.

Principals are required to verify that the aid provided by the MPF has been accepted by the family and the student is enrolled and attending their school by September 15, 2011.

Distribution of the MPF monies will be available after October 1 of the new school year.

Should a family decline the MPF financial aid, the diocese must be notified immediately. Any distributed monies would be returned to the MPF.

Should a family leave the school during the year, an allocated amount based upon the date the student departs would be returned to the MPF.
